Privacy
RiskBird is built so that your data stays on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no server of ours that ever sees your information.
What stays on your phone
- Your assessments — every FRAT you run, your answers, and your history are stored on your device.
- Personal minimums and aircraft profiles — stored on your device.
- Sleep data — if you grant Apple Health access, RiskBird reads last night's sleep to inform the fatigue item. The reading happens on your phone and the data never leaves it. RiskBird cannot write to Apple Health. You can revoke access anytime in Settings → Health.
What goes over the network
- Weather requests — RiskBird fetches METARs and TAFs from aviationweather.gov (a US government service). The request includes the airport identifiers you're asking about, and your approximate coordinates when you ask for nearby weather. That's the request working as designed, not tracking.
- Airport and runway data — downloaded from the public OurAirports dataset.
Location
With your permission, RiskBird uses your location while you're using the app to find nearby airports and their weather. Location is not recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere except as part of the weather lookup described above.
Sharing with your CFI
Sharing an assessment uses the standard iOS share sheet. You choose the recipient and the channel (Messages, Mail, AirDrop); nothing is uploaded to us, because there is no us to upload to.
Deleting your data
Delete assessments in the app, or delete the app to remove everything. There is no server-side copy to chase.
Changes
If a future version changes any of this (for example, optional sync), this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the app will ask before anything new happens with your data.
