MOST PROBLEMS HAVE A TWO-MINUTE FIX
Weather won't load

RiskBird pulls METARs and TAFs from aviationweather.gov. If weather isn't loading, check your connection first, then try again in a few minutes: the government service has occasional outages, especially during maintenance windows. Previously fetched weather stays cached, and the assessment will tell you when it's scoring against stale data.

Sleep shows "no data" in the fatigue item

Three requirements: RiskBird has Health access (Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → RiskBird → turn on Sleep), something is actually recording your sleep (an Apple Watch worn overnight, or an iPhone with Sleep Focus schedules set up in the Health app), and last night's data has synced. If you don't track sleep, answer the fatigue question manually: that's exactly what it's there for.

Nearby airports aren't showing

Allow location access (Settings → RiskBird → Location → While Using the App). Without it, search for airports by identifier instead: everything works, you just type instead of tap.

My airport is missing or its runway data looks wrong

Airport and runway data comes from the public OurAirports dataset, which is community-maintained. Very small private strips are sometimes missing or stale. You can correct the data at ourairports.com and it will reach the app in a future data update; meanwhile, enter runway numbers manually in the assessment.

My score seems too high (or too low)

Tap any line item to see how it scored: every point is attributed and overridable. The most common surprises are night-flight items, personal minimums set tighter than you remembered, and fatigue when sleep data shows a short night. If you disagree with an auto-filled answer, change it: the tool advises, you decide.

Personal minimums: where do I set them?

Settings → Personal Minimums, per aircraft. Start from one of the 15 templates and adjust: ceilings, visibility, crosswind, runway length, and currency. If you fly with an instructor, setting these together is a genuinely useful lesson.

How do I share an assessment with my CFI (or student)?

Open the completed assessment and tap Share. It goes out through the normal iOS share sheet: Messages, Mail, AirDrop. Your CFI sees the full scored assessment, including which answers were auto-filled and which were overridden.

Widgets aren't updating

Long-press the widget → Edit Widget to confirm the airport, and note that iOS budgets widget refreshes: a widget can lag the app by a while. Opening the app always refreshes it. Low Power Mode slows widget updates further.

Something else is broken

Delete and reinstall is safe if you're okay losing saved assessments and minimums: everything lives on the device. Before that, try force-quitting the app and toggling the relevant permission off and on in Settings. Bug reports and requests are welcome through the App Store review page, which we read.
