RiskBird

Terms of Use

EFFECTIVE JULY 12, 2026

RiskBird is advisory

RiskBird is a decision-support tool. It presents a structured risk assessment based on the FAA's published Flight Risk Assessment Tool methodology, data you enter, and third-party data sources. It does not make operational decisions, does not clear you to fly, and produces no output that should be treated as a go/no-go determination.

You are the pilot in command

Under 14 CFR 91.3, the pilot in command is the final authority as to the operation of the aircraft, and under 91.103 is required to become familiar with all available information concerning a flight. Using RiskBird does not satisfy or replace those responsibilities. A RiskBird score, high or low, is one input to your judgment, never a substitute for it.

Data sources and accuracy

Weather is retrieved from aviationweather.gov; airport and runway data comes from the public OurAirports dataset. These sources can be delayed, incomplete, or wrong, and RiskBird may cache data that has since changed. RiskBird is not an official weather briefing and is not a source of current aeronautical information. Verify anything that matters against official sources before you fly.

No warranty

RiskBird is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the app, including decisions made in reliance on its output.

Acceptable use

RiskBird is intended for personal use by pilots and flight instructors in planning general aviation operations. It is not certified for, and must not be relied on in, commercial dispatch or any operation where regulation requires approved tools.

Changes

These terms may be updated as the app evolves; the effective date above tells you when they last changed. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
